The Medical Engineering Unit (MEU) is engaged in manufacturing items for use in medical research, education, and clinical care, as well as in the commercial arena.
Based within the School of Biomedical Sciences The MEU is responsible for responding to the requirements of research and industry, offering one-off prototyping through to small batch production.
Thanks to the integration of CAD/CAM systems, advanced CNC equipment and associated expertise, the MEU is able to design and build high-quality equipment and medical devices to customer requirements.
Haas Automation's Mini Mill takes up little shop floor space, yet provides a generous work envelope of 406 x 305 x 254mm. This super-compact machine features a 40-taper spindle, speeds to 15,000 rpm, 600-ipm rapids and a 10-pocket automatic tool changer.
The Mini Mill handles small-parts manufacturing with the same reliability you've come to expect from all Haas CNC machines - it's ideal for finishing work and cutting aluminium, yet also provides enough low-end torque to cut steel.
