The Brunauer, Emmet and Teller (BET) method is employed in this technique to determine the surface area of a material by gas adsorption. Samples are first prepared using a Gemini VacPrep degasser. The dry and degassed samples can then be analysed using a single or multipoint adsorption method for measuring the surface area (m2/g). Nitrogen gas is used as adsorbant in this technique. This surface area analyser can also be used to determine Langmuir surface areas and total pore volume by gas adsorption.
